Elemental Directions
« on: June 15, 2019, 10:55:24 AM »
I realised recently I had been facing in the wrong direction during the LBRP for the invocation of the archangels and was off by 90 degrees, which has sent me down the rabbit hole of how different sources assign the elements to the cardinal directions. For the sake of internal consistency I'm sticking with the GD attributions for the pentagram ritual but I was wondering if people had any personal insight on this matter.

This might shed some light on the Star Ruby, and the way Crowley seems to have included a blind in the directions.

The Golden Dawn's attribution of the elements to the four directions is from John Dee, so far as I know. They theoretically represent the four winds. It works for me because I live in the northern hemisphere, and most rain comes from the west where I live. It was the same for Dee, and the founders of the Golden Dawn.
